 The following is generally what you can expect to take place during the remodeling process:

The Process

• Consultation – An appointment is set, usually at your home or construction site if different from your home, to talk about what you want to achieve. We will go over your goals, your lifestyle and how your new space/project will be used.  Potential obstacles to your ideas – Structurally, building code compliant, neighborhood association or architectural committee requirements.  We will also go over your ideas pertaining to the budget.

• Ballpark estimate of costs – At this point rough numbers are collected based on our initial meeting and past experience.  This is a chance to think through particulars of your job.   

• Plans/Scope of work/Specifications – Next step is to draw up plans and define the scope of work.  Some smaller jobs like small repairs and window replacement don’t require plans.  Most medium to larger sized projects like kitchen renovations and additions will have to have carefully thought out plans and specifications.  The type and size of the project will determine if Home Reflections can do all or part of this stage in house.  If the services of architects, designers or engineers are needed, we do have recommendations that would be best suited to your needs.

• Real Numbers – With the project clearly defined, you will have a clear vision of how your finished home improvement will be.  We can now call on the various trades involved to get firm numbers and can complete the Construction Agreement.

• Schedule – We are now ready to schedule a start date.  A printed timeline with all the components of the project is made listing the date we expect each item to happen from start to finish.  This gives you a better sense of what to expect and when.  This printed schedule of events is given to all the trades involved so they can make their plans accordingly.  It’s also helpful for selection deadlines and delivery dates.

• During Construction – Your project will be professionally managed every day from start to finish.  We take great measures to protect your house and property while we are there.  We strive to work with only the best trade’s people available.  This assures that any problems that may arise will be handled promptly and professionally.   

• Post Construction – After construction is completed, you will be given a folder with all warranties, owners and users manuals, an affidavit of bills paid and any other pertinent information.  We check back three to six months and one year after completion to see if any adjustments are needed and simply to check on how our work is holding up.
